Upgrading to Firefox 3

I usually hate change. Software programs are constantly updated, and when they are any number of problems can pop up. Everything from system resource usage going through the roof to features you depend on disappearing. A week or so ago, Firefox updated itself to Firefox 3. They had a huge download day, and yes I did download it back then. Then half of my add-ons stopped working. To me this was unacceptable. So I went back down to Firefox 2. I knew in time the add-ons I use regularly would be supported by Firefox 3, and today the ones I was waiting for were updated to new versions. So I finally took the leap to Firefox 3.
There were a few problems. A few extensions still didn't work. I lost my themes. I somehow lost the bookmarks I'd made in the last week. All small problems. I hunted down versions of my add-ons that did work with Firefox 3, found some new extensions for the ones that didn't have compatible versions, and then found some new themes. Then there was a problem with my No Script add-on and Entrecard that I needed to fix, but once I did everything settled. So far, I can see some faster load times with Firefox 3 compared to the times I had with Firefox 2. I see that as a good thing. Here is to change. Anyone else have experienced this change recently? What do you think of the new Firefox?

This week, I've been learning about some of the other social networking and blogging places out there. I've jumped full speed ahead into Tweetville, and I love it. I see it as a good way to interact with other people, and it can also be a good way to promote your work around the web. The month of June has gone by so fast for me, and I know July will be another interesting month. I am trying to decide if I want to go BlogWorld in September. It's in Vegas, and I'm just a short plane trip away in Phoenix. It might be a good idea to go since blogging seems to be my main activity now. I'll keep pondering it.

I'm sorry for being so quiet here lately. I think things might be finally settling down. I know I keep saying that, but this time I mean it! Knocks on wood. I'm pondering an idea for a short to submit to Torquere. I have five weeks to write it. I should be able to. I'm just trying to get things going elsewhere. Anyway here is a Friday Feast to help me get back into the swing of things.

Sorry everyone for being so quiet here lately. I've been busy. Really busy promoting my other blog, but this one is not going anywhere. I needed to get into some kind of groove with things, and I think I am finally doing that. I'm not working as hard to get the same things done every day because I have a system in place. One that gets things done. All my work seems to be paying off finally because today my blog Celebrity Today is the featured blog over at Today.com. There are several blogs on that site, and the people writing really seem to know their stuff about the various topics they cover. I'm really excited and happy to work with such a great bunch of writers.

If I had to create a manga name for myself, that is what would it be. At least this week. Next week it could be a completely different story. Why am I creating manga names for myself at nearly midnight on a Friday evening? Funny you should ask that, and I'll tell you why. I just learned about a new movie that is hitting theaters next week, Bleach the Movie. On June 11th and 12th, the movie will be playing only in select theaters, and you can check just where by clicking that link. Anime and manga has always interested me, but I haven't watched nearly enough of it. Maybe I need to change that sometime. Not now though because right now, I am going to bed!

How much work it can take to promote a new website or blog. You want people to read and visit your site, but they won't do that unless you let them know about it. There are traffic exchanges, Entrecard, social bookmarking sites like digg and stumbleupon, search engines and many other methods of getting traffic to your sites. It all takes work from you. The past few weeks I've been out promoting my new blog, Celebrity Today. It just going to hit a month old in a few days and I've been really working to promote it. There are a lot of methods to use. I'm just learning all about social bookmarking sites and how they work to get you visitors, and I'm trying to use those as much as I can.
Entrecard has been a big help though. I've started using firefox as my main browser in the last couple of weeks, and using Firefox with a few of its extensions, I've learned how to drop 300 cards a day on various sites. It takes a bit of time, but I focus on those that will follow my drop back to me and those within my blog's category. Entrecard can work for you if you learn how to use it right. I've tried different methods, and I think I finally found the best to work for me. There are so many great blogs out there, a lot that cover celebrity news and gossip. I'm just trying my own place in all of it. That will take some time, but hopefully not too much time!

Just a sad day

This morning when I woke up one of the first things I heard about was the fire over at Universal Studios. As a long time resident of North Hollywood, I lived just minutes from Universal. I lost count of how many times over the years I visited the theme park with my family. Today, a good part of back lot there has been destroyed. A fire broke out at the King Kong building just before dawn, and that building along with four other buildings have been destroyed. I just wrote about this over my new blog, and I'm just so saddened by this. I feel like I just lost a part of my childhood there. So many shows an movies were filmed on the two sets destroyed in today's blaze. Back to the future being one of them. The courthouse is now gone. I've seen Back to the future on cable just recently, and that set is just one of Hollywood's landmarks. The blessing in all of this is there were no injuries or deaths caused by the start of the blaze. Some firefighters have been injured fighting it however. It just a sad day. We're losing part of Hollywood history.
