A productive week!

Thursday, May 15, 2008

That is what this has been. There are a few problem areas, but I'm sure I'll be able to fix those soon. I'm hoping so anyway. I'm moving forward with my new blog over at Today.com. If you haven't checked it out yet, why haven't you?! Kidding kidding. I'm enjoying it though, and I'm also moving forward with my fiction. I wrote a bit in one work in progress earlier this week, and I've been bit by another plot idea that I might try tackling soon. Really soon. The idea keeps popping up in my head, so I'm thinking that is telling me something. Other than that. Life is just good right now. I just want it to keep going that way.

Today's Thursday Threesome is  ::Mark my Words::

Onesome: Mark--ing devices? What do you use to mark things up around the house, school, work, wherever? Does the Sharpie rule? ...or do you believe in the sanctity of the pencil <g>?  - My brother has his sharpie and dry erase pens all over the living room. I'm the standard pen and pencil type of girl. On my computer, I have a sticky note software program with a list of important dates on my desktop screen.

Twosome: "My-- day starts off best when I......" I'll let you fill in the blank at your place!  - When I get up early, and I get things done. If I let things set until later in the day I just feel like I've wasted the day somehow. This is a change for me because a few years ago, I used to sleep in and do everything last. Now I'm up around 7am every morning, and I'm done with my work related things by at the latest ten am.

Threesome: Words-- of a feather clump together? Nah, but hey: what word pairings do you use routinely? Are you into alliteration? ...pithy comments? 'Down home' sayings? Give it up for Thursday! - I seem to have this habit of throwing the word actually around. I see it popping up everywhere, and I am now making a conscious effort of stopping using that word!

This week's Thursday Threesome is  ::Kitchen Gadget Store::

Onesome: Kitchen- What's your favorite room at your place? Do you migrate towards the kitchen, or prefer to cozy up in the living room? ...or do you prefer the patio? ...or even the back porch <g>!?: I think my favorite in my house is my room. It is definitely where I spend the majority of my time. It may be really messy, but it is mine. I have my stereo, my television and my computer all right there. My posters on the walls. I'm actually thinking I need to clean my room a bit though, which might shock anyone that knows me. It is too dirty even for me.

Twosome: Gadget- What's your favorite gadget type item and why?: I think it might be my new MP3 player. I'm not sure if it falls under the term of gadget, but since I bought it I use it every day. I even grab it when I'm just walking to get the mail now, and that is not even a five minute walk. I'm so glad I went back and bought the better one when the old one broke. That little error gave me a much product. I had so many headaches with the first one I bought. Sometimes it doesn't pay to be cheap. That is the second time that is happened this year. The first being with the stereo I bought cheap online from Wal-Mart. It arrived broke, and I bought a higher priced one when I took it back.

Threesome: Store- What's your favorite store to browse, even if you never actually buy anything there?: Any and all bookstores. I love bookstores. I can spend hours just looking through titles and picking up books to take home. I have my favorite one, Bookman's. It is a used bookstore not far from me. They also have used DVD's and Cd's, and it is one of my favorite places to go.

Seems like linkies is down for the moment. I'll edit them in later, but if you are participating this week just leave me a comment! I do check out every one that stops by when I do these things. Sometimes I just forget to comment.

This week's Thursday Threesome is ::State Fair and Rodeo::

Onesome- State: What state (or territory) do you live in? Have you lived in any other(s)? Where would you like to live? And as a bonus: Any idea what year your state became a state?: Currently, I live in Arizona. I've lived here since 1994. Before then, I was in Calfornia, and that is where I was born and raised. I think someday I'd like to live in Hawaii or maybe spend a year in New York. I have no idea when Arizona became a state.

Twosome- Fair: Or amusement parks: Did you enjoy them as a kid? What was your favorite ride? How do you feel about them now? Ready to go wander around one again, sampling funnel cakes and corn dogs and riding rides until you're sick? ...or would you rather just enjoy the entertainment or stay home and avoid the crowds?: I used to go to them all the time. Growing up in Southern California, I was surrounded by them, and I'd go to them a lot. Universal Studios was right up the street from me and Disneyland and Knott's Berry Farm were less than an hour away in one direction, and Magic Mountain was about thirty minutes in the other direction. I love the rides and the games.

Threesome- And Rodeo: Have you ever been to or watched a rodeo on TV? Did you enjoy it or consider it a barbaric spectacle? If you liked it, what was your favorite event? Ever tempted to race barrels or ride a bull yourself?: I've only seen the rodeo depicted in movies. I've been to the state fair here, and I could have seen some of the events, but it just has never interested me at all.

Today's Thursday Threesome is ::Something old, Something new, Something borrowed, Something blue::

Onesome: Something old - Do you have anything that you've owned simply forever? A cherished childhood toy, an antique handed down through the family? ...the family Bible?: My doll. My mom gave it to me the Easter I was six years old. The doll is now twenty-six years old, and I still have her. She is just put away at the moment because my cat was being a bit too friendly with her.

Twosome: Something new - Buy anything new lately?: My MP3 Player. The first one I bought broke a couple of days ago, so I went to take it back, and since they gave me store credit I bought this one instead. Double the cost of the first one I picked up, but a lot nicer looking, more features, and a lot less headaches. The first one I bought had been giving me problems since the day I brought it home. The fatal system error might have been a small blessing in disguise.

Threesome: Something borrowed - Have you ever borrowed an item and never returned it?: Yes, the first thing that comes to mind is a CD I borrowed from my prom date oh so very many years ago. The date sucked beyond belief. You want to hear a prom date horror story. I have one. I might share it sometime, but the date was so bad I never spoke to him again, and he never got his CD back either. I still have it. It's a Peter Gabriel CD. The one with all his hits on like Sledgehammer and In Your Eyes.

Bonus: Something blue - Can you see anything blue from where you are? What is it?: A bag of chips my brother bought for me a few days ago.

Today's Thursday Threesome  is ::Anyone can miss a Day::

Onesome: Anyone-- Has anyone made an impression on you lately? No, not on the national level, but at work or school or just 'around'. ...or even here on the web? -- I've recently started writing with someone new in my role play writing who keeps on impressing me daily with how they write their character. It helps me pass the time between job assignments, and it is always nice to find someone to write against that makes things fun and interesting consistently.

Twosome: can Miss-- Speaking of webbish things (and of course we are <g>!), what types of things do you take a miss on at your place and chose not to post about? Just curious... -- I have learned when it comes to blogging, just as it is in life, politics are a hard topic. People tend to have strong emotions one way or another when it comes to politics, and I've seen a difference in political opinion end friendships.

Threesome: a Day-- On a similar note: do you post every day? ...or just whenever? ...or is every session at the computer a spur to work up a little something? -- I try to post daily. I intend to post daily, but sometimes that just doesn't end up working out.

Thursday Threesome #2

This week's Thursday Threesome is on: ::Insomnia, the Cure for Sleep::

Onesome: Ever have it?-- Now this is a topic I have too much experience dealing with over the years. There have always been times where I just can't sleep, or if I do fall asleep I find myself waking back up and unable to go back to sleep. This is actually one of those times. The past week or two, I've been dealing with the worst case of insomnia. In bed at 2am, up at 5am anyone? That has been my last two nights.

Twosome: The cure-- The only thing that works for me is just going with it. I don't force myself to lay there and not sleep. I get up. Read a book. Go back online. Usually I end up falling asleep for another couple of hours during the day.

Threesome: for sleepFemale/male, young/not so young, we all need varying amounts of sleep. What's your personal sleep cycle?--  Generally I can get by on five hours a day. Sometimes I'll sleep more or less, but as long as I have my five hours and maybe a catnap during the day I'm good.

Thursday Threesome #1

Thursday, March 06, 2008

Another new meme I've found to jump into. This one is called The Thursday Threesome. Each Thursday a topic is given, and you answer it. I seem to like these types of memes. They make you think. This week the topic has to do with - ::Choreography: The art of symbolically representing dancing::

Onesome: Choreography: What do you choreograph in your life? Your morning routine? The dinner ritual? How you study? What is 'designed' by you? I had to think about this one for a bit. I don't have a set schedule for my day since I work from home, but I do have a morning routine once I am up that I follow. Get up, boot up the computer, make a bathroom stop and then check email and work on what I know needs done that done. Once that is done, I either watch a bit of television or I head out for a walk. This seems to be the norm the last week or two, and in the past as well. I'm trying to get better organized, and it appears I am falling into this routine that is working for me.

Twosome: The art of symbolically: Art? Hmmmm... Sure, what do you like to have? ...or do you? ...but how about that little symbol you keep on your desk or headboard? The one you keep because??? I mean, if you can share that... I don't know if it is considered art, but I love movie posters. I'd have them hanging up all over my room if I could get away with it. I have a few up now, and I've been looking to pick up another. I just like posters in general. I know I'll be picking up a new one at the Bon Jovi concert next month as well. The thing is my cat likes them too. My other boy I used to have made it his mission to tear them down. I haven't put any up because I'm not sure if Mikey has those same tendencies. Do I want to chance it?

Threesome: representing dancing: No, not 'do you dance?' (although that's fine too!); rather, which type(s) of dancing will you stop and watch for a moment? Ballroom? Swing? Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey? I love dancing. I watch all the dance shows. Well, not all. I watch Dancing With The Stars and So You Think You Can Dance every season. I was a big fan of Dirty Dancing when that movie came out twenty years ago. I was sad yesterday to hear that Patrick Swayze is likely dying within the next few months from pancreatic cancer. He's too young. I know he isn't young young, but still too young to go. I've always been a fan.
