156. Hump day ramblings

Wednesday, September 07, 2005

My father just walked in the door. He had three teeth pulled today. He's the stoic "I'm fine" type, but he is getting up there in age, and having three teeth pulled is certainly no picnic. At the age of seventy-nine, eighty in December, he still works a full time job, and he is in pretty good health for his age. I'm lucky to have my father still living. So many have their lost their dads. My mother passed on ten years. There has been so much loss of life in the last week in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

I've finally stopped watching 24/7 coverage on Katrina. There isn't much I can do by just watching the coverage. The only way you can help is by taking action. Donating your time, money or other items. I'm still pondering my contribution to Absolute Writer's submission call for their book to raise money for the tragedy. I haven't been able to put my thoughts together enough to write something proper for submission yet. I have a basic idea, but the rest is being elusive.

I've also been putting in a considerable amount of time promoting and setting up my review site. Things are going well, and once things are established and settled with the shows I'm reviewing and other items, then things should be easier to run. Speaking on my review blog, my review of last night's Real World episode is up on my blog now if you wanted to take a look at it.

I want to thank all those that congratulated me on my little news yesterday. The talks are still in the preliminary stages, and the site is still gearing up for the fall season, so it might take a bit of time to get things up and running. So I'll need to be patient. I'll definitely keep you posted on developments when I know more.

With all this work on my nonfiction projects, my fiction writing seems to suffering a bit. I know its because I'm so busy with writing other material, so I'm not too worried right now. I know I'll pick things right back up. July was a bit like this, and August I had the best fiction writing month ever. I just need to take things one day at a time. The month is still young, and I haven't been feeling the best physically the last few days either. I'm sure by next week things will be better. That's just how it goes the start of every month.

I hope you're all doing well. Have a great Wednesday everyone.

I'm sure your writing time will smooth out into a steady routine soon. You just have a lot on your plate now. =)
